Medical Malpractice

Failure to DX Cancer | Nursing Home Abuse | Denial of Treatment | Fetal Distress | Telemedicine | Shoulder Dystocia

In seeking quality medical care, many Texans are relatively unfamiliar with the health care delivery system in their community.  They know that they feel bad and need medical assistance from a qualified health care professional, but often do not know what type of doctor they need or who are the best doctors to treat certain types of injuries or diseases.  Fortunately, most medical care has been standardized and most people will receive proper medical treatment from good health care professionals and will be able to go back to their normal lives.

Unfortunately, sometimes something goes wrong and the injured or hurt person does not receive the medical treatment that they require.  In some situations the patient walks into a doctor's office or hospital for a simple treatment or examination and receives improper medical treatment that worsens their condition and in some situations causes their death or severe medical problems.  Medical mistakes including misdiagnoses and unnecessary treatment are one of the leading causes of death.

Recent changes in Texas law have made medical negligence claims extremely expensive to pursue and have driven many lawyers out of the medical malpractice field.  Other firms are now extremely selective in the medical malpractice claims they take and typically do not take claims with damages of less than $50,000.00.  Even claims of wrongful death or with damages of over $50,000.00 are difficult and expensive to pursue.

When seeking medical treatment it is important to do your research, learn about the medical providers that are helping you, understand the pros and cons of any treatment recommended, question actions that do not seem right, and take someone with you to watch out for you if you are having surgery or are going to be incapacitated.  It is much better to avoid medical negligence, than to attempt seeking compensation afterwards. Doctors are people too and some are great, but there are a few out there that should not be practicing.  If you run into a bad doctor or health care provider, go to another one.  A second opinion, especially when dealing with serious medical decisions is always a good idea.

This area of the Texaslawyers.com web site is designed to discuss some common areas of medical negligence as well as wrongful denials of treatment from insurance companies.  If you have suffered a serious injuries or have lost a loved one from medical negligence, there are some Texas Medical Malpractice Lawyers on this directory that take cases all over Texas.  Feel free to e-mail Texaslawyers.com or submit an inquiry, if you have any questions.
