Because of many years of cancer research,
many forms of cancer are now treatable. However, one of the most
important factors in treating many forms of cancer is to catch it
early. Failing to diagnose the cancer can often rob a person of their
opportunity to recover from cancer. As such, it is important to be
aware of what you need to do to detect cancer. It is also important to
accurately communicate with your medical professionals to make sure that
they are aware of any new symptoms that you may have as well as that
they have performed all reasonable and necessary screenings on you.
-
Breast Cancer -
Regular exams should be conducted, especially for those with a
family history of breast cancer or over the age of 35. For more
information on detecting and preventing breast cancer, please go to
the following web sites (will be added soon).
-
Prostate Cancer -
As with breast cancer regular exams should be conducted, especially
for those with family histories of prostate cancer or over the age
of 35.
-
Pancreas Cancer - Unfortunately,
pancreas cancer is difficult to detect yourself, but if you are
aware of it in your family history and start to experience symptoms
such as blood in your stools and new pains, it is important to make
sure that your physician is aware of this information.
-
Skin Cancer -
Make sure that you inspect your skin on a regular basis for new
moles or discolorations. Make sure that you communicate this
information and show these areas to your physician for examination.
