Exposure Symptoms Human exposure to toxic molds can cause cold & flu symptoms, soar throats, headaches, fatigue, dermatitis, local hair loss, generalized malaise, dementia, and gastrointestinal disorders as well as stress the immune system. More severe symptoms caused by Toxic Mold include "bloody noses, coughing up blood, severe headaches, dizziness, fibrous growth in the lungs", Pakinson’s like shaking, and problems with concentration. For those that are already weak or compromised including the very young and elderly, exposure to these toxins problematic. In fact, it is thought that long term exposure to Stachybotrys combined with cigarette smoke can be fatal for small infants. It is important to realize if several people are having similar symptoms. This is especially the case if those with the most exposure to a particular area are having problems. Common first signs are headaches and flu-like symptoms as well as fatigue. Though these are common symptoms if they can be linked to a group of people having similar symptoms in a particular area, mold testing may be a good idea. Animal Exposure While some animals such as some types of insects are not adversely effected by toxic mold exposure, there are many reports of cats, horses, and other mammals that have experienced health problems including rashes, acne, loss of skin and hair, breathing problems, and immune suppression.
