Texas Private Ambulance Accident Law
Suits
Over the last twenty years,
Texas Private Ambulances Services have become more common as
some government politicians have decided to outsource
government functions to private companies. However,
despite providing some savings, in reality many
political subdivisions who have contracted with the lowest
private ambulance bidder in providing Private
Ambulance Services for their citizens have had problems with
the quality of emergency medical services that they receive.
These low cost private ambulance services can create hazards
for other Texans that share the roads and highways with
poorly trained, unqualified, and unsupervised drivers and
paramedics racing to emergency situations.

Texas Private Ambulance Service News Uncovers Unqualified

Audit Finds Flaws in TxDOT Program

"A new report by the State Auditor's
Office uncovered some mishandlings with a program run by the
Texas Department of Transportation. The Medical
Transportation Program is designed to help mainly Medicaid
patients get to and from doctors appointments. Last year,
they transported 196,308 Texans in an ambulance from a
private medical transportation company. The companies must
meet certain requirements if the government foots the bill.
The report focused on four transportation
providers in the state: American Medical Response, Irving
Holdings, LaFleur Transportation and East Texas Support
Services. Of the 239 drivers studied, 16 percent had
criminal backgrounds and 14 percent had invalid driver's
licenses.
The report found a TxDOT program hired
people with criminal backgrounds and invalid drivers'
licenses. The audit also found some of the subcontractors
hired by private medical transport companies are not on
TxDOT's approved list. The largest transportation
provider is American Medical Response. An email from their
regional director of communications said..."This [report] is
not for AMR ambulances, paramedics or EMTs ... this [report]
was for subcontractors for a managed transportation
contract."
"We'll have to tighten our rules and
procedures that we have with the program that regulate what
the vendors and contractors can do and how they are to
perform in the program," TxDOT spokesperson Mark Cross said.
For now, TxDOT said the contracts with the private medical
transport companies will continue.
TxDOT has less than a year to try and fix
the medical transportation program. Starting Sept. 1, 2008,
the program will be under the control of the Texas Health
and Human Service Commission."

"TX-DOT plans to reenact a Christmas
morning accident in Leonard involving an ambulance that
killed three people to find out why the accident happened."
"A Shreveport, Louisiana, woman and her
twin sons were killed in the accident Christmas morning
around 6:00 a.m. in the Leonard/Trenton area. Authorities
tell us a Bonham ambulance, headed North on FM 981 did not
see a Chevy Malibu headed North on Highway 69, and pulled
out in front of it.
The Malibu hit the ambulance. The impact
sent both vehicles off the road, flipping the ambulance on
its side, sending the Malibu crashing through a fence,
killing the driver and her twin sons."
Texas Automobile Accident
Law Suits and Private Ambulance Service Driver Automobile Accident Claims
An automobile accident
that causes a serious injury or loss of a loved one
can be a devastating and life changing event. This
loss can be
especially upsetting if the automobile collision was
needlessly caused by the negligence of a private ambulance
service trying to save money by hiring unqualified,
untrained, or inexperience drivers to speed to emergencies;
failing to maintain their vehicles; or overworking tired and
stressed out drivers. It is extremely important that
well trained and qualified drivers use safe vehicles to
transport sick and critically injured people. For the
private ambulance service safety should be a top concern to
prevent fatal accidents and serious injury collisions.
Texas Private Ambulance
Service Negligence
Law Suits and Claims
In addition to fatal and
serious injury automobile collisions, negligent private
ambulance services can also injure the people that they are
transporting through inadequate or defective equipment,
poorly trained or unqualified personnel, or poor supervision
of employees or maintenance of equipment.
These Private Ambulance
Service Negligence Lawsuits can also subject negligent
private ambulance services to substantial liability for
failing to maintain critical standards of care that protect
patients, clients, and Texans from serious injuries or fatal
mistakes. Texas Private Ambulance Service Lawyer,
Jason S. Coomer works with seriously injured people and the
families of those that have been killed by carelessness to
obtain compensation for injuries and damages suffered.
Texas Automobile Accident
Lawyers & Automobile Accident Lawsuits
Texas Fatal and Serious
Injury automobile accidents should be
investigated to make sure that the causes of the accidents
don't reoccur, that the people responsible for the accidents
are properly dealt with, and people injured or families that
have lost family members in a serious collision are
compensated. To obtain these goals, it is usually necessary to have an
experienced Texas automobile accident investigate and
litigate the claim. In many instances it may also be
necessary for the Texas attorney to file a law suit and
litigate the automobile accident claim in court.
Texas Drunk Driver Commercial
Vehicle Automobile Accident
Claims
Every
year drunk drivers and drivers under the influence of
alcohol and drugs kill and seriously injure a large number
of Texans. Many of these Texas Drunk Driver Accidents
occur in Austin, Texas. In these cases it is typically
best to have an experienced
Texas Drunk Driver Automobile
Collision Lawyer working on your case.
Alcohol related automobile accidents
are one of the leading causes of death in Texas as well as
in the United States. Under Texas law a driver is considered
drunk or under the influence if they do not have the normal
use of mental or physical faculties by reason of the
introduction of alcohol, a controlled substance, a drug, a
dangerous drug, a combination of two or more of those
substances, or any other substance into the body or if they
have a blood alcohol concentration of over .08. It is
against Texas law for drunk drivers to operate motor
vehicles, water craft, and air craft. If the drunk driver
causes an automobile accident or boating accident that
causes serious injuries or death, they can be charged under
Texas law with intoxication assault or intoxication
manslaughter both serious felonies.
In handling
Texas drunk
driver accident claims, it is important to review the police
report and medical records to determine if any tickets or
citations were issued or if any tests were done to determine
if the negligent driver was under the influence. It is
also important to speak with witnesses to determine where
the person was before the accident and what they were doing
that caused the accident. In many instances it is
obvious if the person was drunk. Evidence of drunk
driving can include sporadic driving including driving at
high rates of speed, weaving in and out of traffic, and not
following traffic signals. It can also include a
person who is slurring, staggering, or out of control after
the automobile accident that they have caused.

Texas Commercial Vehicle Accident Claims
Fatal Commercial Vehicle Accidents are too common in
Texas. From Company Vehicle Accidents to Commercial
Truck Accidents; careless, negligent, and sometimes
intoxicated commercial vehicle drivers cause fatal accidents
or catastrophic injury collisions that devastate peoples'
lives. These commercial vehicle accident claims can
often be difficult to investigate, but defense lawyers,
insurance adjusters, and risk managers familiar with
limiting the defendant's liability often begin working on
shifting blame and discrediting potential plaintiffs as soon
as they start working on the claim.
