Austin, Central Texas, & The Hill Country

The Lower Colorado River Authority or LCRA controls the water flowing through these lakes with a series of hydroelectric dams which provide power to much of Central Texas. The major industries found in and around the Austin area include Technology, Tourism, Recreation, Government, Music, and Education.  IBM, Texas Instruments, 3M, APC, Motorola, Advanced Micro Devices, Samsung, and Dell make up a large part of the Technology industry though many other hi-tech companies can be found throughout the Silicon Hills of Austin, Texas.  Central Texas is also home to several Colleges and Universities including, The University of Texas, Texas State University, St. Edwards University, Huston-Tillotson College, Tarleton State University, Southwestern University, Austin Community College, Concordia University, and The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
